Adventure Cycling Day 01 : Arrival Yangon

ADVENTURE CYCLING TOUR Day 01 : Arrival Yangon

Today is the free day for you to recover from long flight. You can walk around in the down town center and see the daily life of the people in Myanmar. And also, you can visit Bogyoke market (also known as Scott Market) for your leisure (the market is always closed on every Monday and Public holiday).

ADVENTURE CYCLING TOUR 02 : Yangon city tour (B,-,-)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to go to Yangon and after arriving visit the downtown Area with the Old City Hall and take a stroll along Colonial Buildings ending at the old Strand Hotel. In the afternoon visit Kandawgyi Park to take a stroll in the relaxation zone, Chaukhtetgyi Reclining Buddha image which is the biggest one in Yangon, and then drive to the most significant pagoda, Shwedagon, which the global scholars describe as One of Wonders in The World. Shwedagon plays very important role in the Old Burmese History not only standing as the holiest structure for the Buddhist all over the world. Afterwards, check in the hotel.

ADVENTURE CYCLING TOUR Day 03 : Yangon – Heho – Inle lake (B,-,-)

This morning we will fly to Heho airport which is the gate way of the beautiful Inle lake. Then we drive to the small jetty and  it is at the small town called Nyaungshwe where we will stay overnight. Before we check in at the hotel, we will explore on lake with the long tail boat and you will see the unique leg rowers and floating gardens there. Then you can proceed to the small industries like lotus weaving, cheroot factory and boat making area. Lunch at the local restaurant on lake and return to the town Nyaungshwe. After that, we will choose the bike for you to get the right size.

Today, we will start riding to Indain which is very famous for having a lot of ancient stupas from 18th century at the western bank of the lake. On the way, we will visit famous natural hot spring and the small village which is making tofu. The road is quite nice with the so much many of sugar cane plantations. Lunch at local restaurant in the end and visit the stupa. Return to the town by boat.

Today is the most beautiful Shan Highland area where we are going to pass  and you will see very nice tribes called Pa-Oh wearing the whole black. On the way, we will have some challenge for riding uphill about 7km and then we will learn one of their cultures making traditional Shan Paper and umbrella. After checking into at the hotel, you will have time to relax at the swimming pool and we will leave in the evening for visiting to the natural limestone cave called Pindaya cave where you will see over 8000 Buddha images inside from many years ago.

Today, we will transfer you to the starting point about 45 minutes driving. Then, we will start riding to a small town called Ywar Ngan and the road condition will be up and down by passing a lot of villages and cultivation fields. Lunch will be at local restaurant and transfer to Mandalay about 4 hours driving.

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a bike ride to Mandalay’s outskirts. Your first destination is Amarapura, “the city of immortality” . Stop here to visit U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge of the world and the bridge spans about 1.2 kilometers in length and offers fabulous views of the surrounding farms and streams. Continue by bike across the Irrawaddy River to Mingun (33 kms/ app 2 hours). Visit the main sites of Mingun beginning with the famous Mingun Pahtodawgyi. This huge brick structure was left unfinished after an astrologer predicted the King’s would die should the temple be completed. In the 1800s, an earthquake left several large cracks in the structure. Continue your visit at the beautiful white Hsinbyume Pagoda whose distinctive style is meant to resemble the mythical Mount Meru. Then see the Mingun Bell which weighs 90 tons and is considered the world’s largest uncracked ringing bell. Then return to Mandalay by boat. The car will be waiting for you at the jetty and go back to hotel.

Today we transfer about an hour to the small town of Myin-Mu and then start our ride to the authentic Burmese town of Monywa. This is a pleasant ride on a tarmac road with little traffic as we cycle through the Chindwin Valley through tiny villages and plantations which produce a range crops from orange orchards to sugar cane.
On the way, we cycle a bit off road and will stop at the tallest standing Buddha image in Myanmar, Laykyun Setkyar. The Buddha image is 116 meters and is quite a site and makes for great photographing as it stands just behind one of the largest reclining Buddhas in the country.
As you approach Monywa, you will stop at the Mohnyin Thambuddhei Paya. This temple dates back to 1303 and his famous for housing more than 500,000 images of Buddha. Cycle into the tiny town of Monywa and check in to your hotel for the evening.

Today, we will start from the hotel for riding by passing some villages and ancient pagodas. At the end, we will transfer you to the restaurant about  45 minutes driving. Lunch at local restaurant and head out to Bagan by bus. Bagan is one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia. This enchanting city is situated on the eastern bank of thr Ayeyarwaddy river. The ruins of Bagan city cover an area of 42 sq km containing over 3000 edifices. The majority of these well-preserved temples and pagodas offer a rich architectural heritage from the 11th to 13thcenturies era.

After breakfast at the hotel, spend a full day biking around the ancient temples. Start with a visit to the colourful Nyaung Oo Market where the locals come to buy and trade fresh produce and handicrafts. Continue to Shwezigon Pagoda, known for its magnificent golden stupa, and Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite jatakas murals paintings. Your final visit this morning is at the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations. This afternoon, observe the process of traditional lacquerware, one of Myanmar's best-known handicrafts and a specialty of Bagan. Then, visit Ananda, an architectural masterpiece reflecting the early-style of Bagan temple construction and containing four impressive standing Buddha images. Continue to nearby Ananda Okkyaung, one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the early Bagan.

ADVENTURE CYCLING TOUR Day 11 : Bagan – Mt. Popa - Bagan (B,-,-)

As our biking route leaves Bagan and heads further into the countryside, you will begin your ride by weaving through some of the lesser visited temples of the region. This afternoon you’ll feel the road rising as we ascend towards the national park that encompasses Mount Popa, the now extinct volcano.  Hundreds of macaque monkeys are known to inhabit this region, but they are not the only ones that live here. Mount Popa is also known as the abode of the Mahagiri Nats (local spirits). So important are these spirits to the people of this region, they are worshipped every year during a festival that takes place from May to June. The final stretch of our ride ascends steeply before landing us at Popa Mountain Resort. If you are feeling energetic, why not climb to the sacred summit of the Gods (Mount Popa’s peak). On the flat plateau lies Taung Kalat Buddhist monastery —a focal point for annual pilgrimages to Mount Popa.
